Art Vancouver

This year, the Art Vancouver event took place at the Vancouver Convention center. I had the opportunity to display my work there alongside my friends. This was such a valuable learning experience talking with different artists and seeing their diverse art styles. I had a great time with my friends and really enjoyed making my installation. I’m so glad to be a part of this journey!

My artwork is named “Spoiled” and it’s an installation depicting the changes in our mental and physical state as we progress through different stages of life. A messy mixture of mature elements mixed in with childish components forms an unsettling feeling of being stuck. This piece is meant to evoke the feeling of being stuck in time, growing up too fast, not growing up fast enough. As children we are able to enjoy life without a care in the world, protected in the comforts of our cribs. This crib can also be interpreted as a mental barrier. However, as we mature, reaching out of that crib is essential in order for us to step into society.

In the first video, an overall view of the event location is shown with short intros to all of our artworks. I walked down the runway with my painting (part of my installation) alongside my friends. In the second video, I’m doing a short interview explaining the intention of my piece.
